State of Decay 3 Release Date and Platforms
Targeted for 2027. No day or month has been named yet.
State of Decay 3 is aiming for a 2027 launch on Xbox Series X|S, PC, Xbox Cloud and PlayStation 5, with Game Pass access on day one. The window has stayed at the year level since the June 7, 2026 gameplay reveal, so any specific month you see quoted is speculation. You can wishlist it on every platform, but there are no pre-orders, no price and no edition list yet.
Console players need a platform subscription for online co-op, while both PC versions only need the game. Eight languages are supported, with full voice acting in English only, and eleven age ratings place the game between 16 and 18 depending on your region. PC hardware requirements beyond Windows 10 are still unknown.
Platforms and online play
State of Decay 3 is coming to Xbox, two PC storefronts, PlayStation 5 and cloud streaming, with Game Pass on day one. Console online play sits behind the usual platform subscription.

The PlayStation 5 version was added at the June 2026 showcase, which makes it the first State of Decay game on a PlayStation console. Crossplay with PlayStation has not been confirmed yet; cross-platform co-op links Xbox consoles and PC.
When State of Decay 3 comes out
The current target is 2027. The window was set alongside the Official Gameplay Reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026, the same show that announced the PlayStation 5 version. When Undead Labs completed its separation from Xbox on September 22, 2026, the plan did not move: the game still launches in 2027, still lands on Game Pass on day one, and will reach players through a new publisher.
Before launch the studio is running staged playtests. A small alpha began in May 2026, a second alpha followed the showcase, and closed beta playtests are planned before the end of 2026 with more players and platforms than the alpha. If you want to play before release, signing up for those waves through the free waitlist is the only route.
No platform has a release day, month or countdown yet. Treat dates posted on aggregator sites or social media as placeholders until Undead Labs names one.
Game Pass, Xbox Play Anywhere and pre-orders
Game Pass subscribers get State of Decay 3 on launch day. That still holds after the studio became independent in September 2026, so the split did not change the subscription plan.

Xbox Play Anywhere covers the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox app versions with a single purchase, and cloud saves carry progress between them. Xbox Cloud lets Game Pass members stream the Xbox version without installing it. Steam is a separate purchase and does not share Play Anywhere entitlements.
Pre-orders have not opened yet. You can wishlist the game on Steam, the Microsoft Store and the PlayStation Store, but there is no price, deluxe edition or pre-order bonus to choose from. A Steam wishlist also gets you an email on release day.
Languages
Eight languages are supported. English is the only one with full audio; the other seven cover the interface and subtitles.

Turkish, Polish, Japanese and Korean are not supported so far, and Turkish is one of the languages players ask for most. The game keeps its original name, State of Decay 3, in every region.
Age ratings
State of Decay 3 is rated for ages 16 to 18 depending on where you live, mostly for strong violence and gore. Several ratings also note in-game purchases; cosmetic skins for vehicles, characters and backpacks are planned, but how they will be sold has not been announced.
PC requirements and Steam Deck
Windows 10 is both the minimum and the recommended operating system on Steam, and that is the only requirement known so far: processor, graphics card, memory and storage figures have not been announced. The game is built in Unreal Engine 5 with help from The Coalition, so expect requirements above State of Decay 2's, but plan upgrades only once real numbers appear.

There is no Steam Deck verification before release. State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition is rated Playable on Deck, which tells you the series has worked on the handheld before, not how the sequel will perform. On Steam the game supports full controllers, captions, Steam Achievements and Family Sharing, though the achievements themselves have not been revealed yet.
The Xbox app version adds HDR10, variable refresh rate and cloud saves, and the same purchase unlocks the Xbox Series X|S version through Play Anywhere.
Price and editions
The price has not been announced on any platform, and neither has a special or collector's edition. The publisher change after Undead Labs left Xbox makes guesses based on earlier Xbox releases even less useful, so wait for the official price.
What you can do today is wishlist on your platform of choice, join the playtest waitlist, and decide whether Game Pass covers you. Console players should budget for an online subscription if they want co-op: Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate on Xbox, PS Plus on PlayStation 5.
